Man who was shot by Pasadena police is charged with 4 felonies

A 23-year-old man who was shot by Pasadena police earlier this month has been charged with four felonies, including assault with a firearm on a peace officer.

Paris Holloway allegedly threatened officers who tried to stop him at about 10 a.m. Oct. 11. Pasadena Police Lt. Tracey Ibarra said that Holloway ran into a housing complex near West Hammond Street and Sunset Avenue and as officers gave chase he pulled out a handgun. One of the pursuing officers opened fire, hitting him several times, she said.

Holloway was taken to a hospital, where he underwent surgery. No officers were injured in the altercation.

Police found a loaded handgun near Holloway, Ibarra said. She did not identify the officers involved in the shooting.

Holloway was charged Oct. 17 with assault with a firearm on a peace officer, possession of a stolen firearm, being a felon in possession of a firearm and possession of stolen property, KTLA reported.

He was also charged with a misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

Pasadena police announced the charges Monday, the same day a city public safety committee was scheduled to get an update on officers’ conduct in the case.
